  1. Nov 11, 2007  Oh, Starbucks. Also, I went into a local Starbucks that carried the Sirena for a demo. Waste of time. Employee didn't recognize the name of the machine, or even know how to plug it in. So much for training. As a former employee of Starbucks, I am appalled at the status of espresso.
  2. Sirena model SIN 025RX. Sirena espresso machine was made by Saeco for Starbucks. It is not marketed or sold by Starbucks any longer. Guru's Review: The machine has a separate steam boiler and flow meter. The hydraulic system in this model is weak.

Using the Barista Machine to Brew a Shot of Espresso

Turn the machine on. When the 'Ready' light turns on, the machine is ready.

Put ground coffee basket in the Rapporto filter.

Put 1 1/2 tablespoons of finely ground espresso into the coffee basket. Level the coffee and wipe off any excess grounds to avoid residue.

Insert Rapporto filter into the brew head, and turn the handle all the way to the right.

Place two shot glasses or one cup underneath the Rapporto filter espresso dispensers, which are located on its underside.

Press the 'Brew' button. The espresso should begin flowing within five seconds. When the shot glasses are halfway full, press the 'Brew' button again to turn it off.

Turn the steam-wand valve knob. This will release any condensation remaining in the wand. Use caution as this may release steam. Close the valve after any steam has been released.

Fill a pitcher halfway with cold milk and insert thermometer into the milk.

Place pitcher under steam wand, until the wand is just under the milk's surface. Hold pitcher at a slight angle to encourage steam flow. When milk has steamed to the desired amount, submerge the wand halfway into the milk.

Remove pitcher when milk reaches 150 to 170 degrees Fahrenheit. Wipe steam wand clean with damp cloth.
